2024/2025 SSWE Conductor
​Internship Program

The Sea to Sky Wind Ensemble (SSWE) Conductor Internship Program aims to provide an opportunity for interested conductors to gain experience working with a full-sized wind ensemble of advanced musicians while having the option of being mentored by our Music Director, Mr. Tak Maeda.

​The goal of the Conductor Internship is to further develop the musical careers of talented conductors. The Conductor Internship will be a 1-year appointment with the possibility of renewal for a second year.

​Successful candidates will be appointed by the
Board of Directors of the North Shore Community Music Society (NSCMS).

Application Information
  • Candidates should have some previous conducting experience, though not necessarily with a wind ensemble
  • The Intern will put on a workshop for the band for TWO sessions during the 2024/2025 season & should be available to attend those TWO rehearsals on Tuesday evenings (8 pm to 9:30 pm) at Windsor Secondary School in North Vancouver
  • Be available to attend at least TWO SSWE concerts and prepare reports to provide analyses on the performances (i.e. music selection, stage set-up, etc...) which will be reviewed by Mr. Tak Maeda
  • An honorarium of $350/intern will be paid out to the interns selected for their time
  • Only local applicants from the lower mainland will be considered

  • What your goals are as a conductor
  • What skill-sets and/or personality traits you feel would be an attribute to the band and why
  • Any past experiences with SSWE (playing with and/or attending concerts) as well as your opinions on the ensemble’s past performances and repertoire.

We will be accepting TWO interns for the 2024/2025 season. Successful candidates
will be notified by Aug 31/24.
